Pay disparity? Not on our watch!

by | Aug 21, 2024

Equal Pay Day is the 50th day of the financial year and marks the number of extra days that women would need to work to earn the same as men did last financial year.

As we observe, Equal Pay Day, Pearce IP is proud to highlight our unwavering commitment to gender pay equity.  In a legal industry where disparities (including pay disparities) are often the norm, we have made it our mission to ensure that pay parity is not just a policy but a fundamental aspect of who we are.

Commitment to Pay Equity

At Pearce IP, we believe that equal pay for equal work is a basic right.  Our Founder and CEO, Naomi Pearce, has championed this cause with a clear message:

Not on my watch.  Pay parity is a given at Pearce IP.”

This commitment is reflected in our practices, where we ensure that all team members are compensated equitably, regardless of gender.

How does Pearce IP ensure pay equity in practice?

Pearce IP ensures pay equity in practice through several key strategies and commitments:

  1. Commitment to Pay Parity: Pearce IP is committed to pay parity.  Pay equity is not just a policy but a core value integrated into its workplace culture.  By actively promoting pay equity and supporting women in leadership, Pearce IP is not just participating in the conversation — we’re leading the change in the legal industry towards a more equitable future.
  2. Leadership and Representation: The firm is women-owned and led, with women holding over 70% of key leadership positions.  This leadership structure helps to ensure that diverse perspectives are considered in decision-making processes, including those related to compensation.
  3. Removing Barriers: Pearce IP actively works to remove barriers to employment, learning opportunities, promotion, and pay equity.  All team members have equal opportunities to advance and be compensated fairly.
  4. Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: By promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, Pearce IP fosters an environment where all employees are valued and rewarded equitably.  This commitment extends beyond pay equity, encompassing broader aspects of workplace equality.

As we celebrate Equal Pay Day, we invite others in the industry to join us in this important mission. Together, we can create a future where pay equity is the standard, not the exception.  These pieces highlight Pearce IP’s commitment to pay equity and gender equality, reinforcing the firm’s leadership role in fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.
